Welcome to the ASB-RAINFOREST Challenge Program list.
This list is intended to facilitate information exchange through 'virtual' consultation on drafts for the pre-proposal on the Rainforest Challenge Program.
" A concept note generated by ASB in collaboration with WWF, IUCN, CIFOR and other partners entitled 'THE RAINFOREST CHALLENGE: FORESTS AS RESOURCES FOR THE POOR' is among the 13 topics selected from 41 concept notes considered by the CGIAR for development of a Global Challenge Program. Click URL: http://www.cgiar.org/pdf/cprainforest.pdf to access it.
The goal for the Rainforest Challenge Program is for the humid tropics, to improve the livelihood security of poor households, advance biodiversity conservation, secure environmental services and improve the capacity of civil society and government organizations to design and implement effective landscape management programmes. The purpose is to provide validated frameworks, organizational approaches, implementation tools, practices, technologies, transfer payments and policies that work to integrate rainforest conservation with development efforts. ASB's collaboration and participation with the Rainforest (CP) will provide additional impetus behind ASB's global activities in integrating poverty reduction and tropical biodiversity conservation.
This distribution list links over 100 members of advanced research institutions and international organizations, national systems (NARS) and nature conservation counterparts, local and national NGOs, other national agencies and universities in developing countries, international consortia and Future Harvest Centres.
