Greetings! You are invited to join the Network on Agroforestry and HIV/AIDS. The network is an online discussion forum created to share and disseminate information and knowledge on linkages between agroforestry practices and the relevance to communities affected by illness related to HIV/AIDS. It is designed to allow collaborations between various sectors of society including agriculture, natural resource management, health and medicine. In December 2003, The World Agroforestry Centre hosted a workshop called “Agroforestry Responses to HIV/AIDS in East and Southern Africa”. The workshop aimed to expand on linkages between agroforestry and HIV/AIDS and to establish specific plans of action that would strengthen the understanding of agroforestry and HIV/AIDS. Many of you participated in this workshop and expressed an interest in maintaining the informal network formed at the workshop. Thus, NAFAIDS is the beginning of further capacity building and networking strategies and it is hoped that this network will expand beyond workshop participants to reach communities, ngos, cbos, government officials, policy makers, scientists, researchers, and educators. NAFAIDS can be used by all members: (i) to announce meetings, seminars, and conferences that may be of interest to other subscribers; (ii) to inform subscribers of new publications; (iii) to inform subscribers of ongoing research and research findings; (iv) to function as a forum for the exchange of questions and answers, discussions and brainstorming about issues related to agroforestry and HIV/AIDS (v) to request assistance in locating additional relevant information. Sending mail to all subscribers can be done easily by sending it to the NAFAIDS e-mail address: nafaids@lists.cgiar.org PLEASE NOTE: You cannot use the "reply-to" function to reply to the list. The return path "NAFAIDS-postmaster" routes messages to the CGNET postmaster, not to the list. To send a message to the list, you will need to manually enter the e-mail address nafaids@lists.cgiar.org All members are encouraged to introduce themselves to the other subscribers by sending as their first message to NAFAIDS their name, their occupation, the organization they are affiliated with, and their interest in education for sustainable development. Subscribing to nafaids
