WELCOME TO THE URBAN HARVEST-LISTSERV (PLEASE KEEP THIS MESSAGE FOR FUTURE REFERENCE) This listserv has been set up to facilitate direct communication among partners in urban and peri-urban agriculture, including participants of Urban Harvest - the CGIAR System-wide Initiative on Urban and Peri-urban Agriculture (www.cipotato.org/urbanharvest ). It is intended for substantive discussion on research and methodology related to urban and peri-urban agriculture (UPA), as well as sharing relevant information concerning Urban Harvest and other regional, national and international initiatives in UPA. We encourage all participants to initiate and/or contribute to discussion topics and share information on literature, workshops, etc. that would be of interest to UPA partners. The list can also be useful if you are looking for information on a topic. Sending in a short note about what you are looking for will often get a number of responses from people who know of related work. When you or your colleagues have a publication that would be of interest to other Urban Harvest- Listserv members, please post an announcement with the citation, abstract, and information on how to get a copy. Whenever there is a matter for general discussion, send it to the listserv. That way we will tap into the expertise of the whole group, and foster greater interaction among members. TO SEND MESSAGES To send a message to all the list members, you should MANUALLY enter the email address urbanharvest-l@lists.cgiar.org For some matters you will need to communicate only with the list moderators (for handling administrative details, for example). For this please use the “REPLY” function in your electronic mail, as this way you will not send unnecessary information to the entire list of participants. Please INCLUDE YOUR NAME IN THE BODY (or text area) OF EACH MESSAGE. This is necessary because the listserv will not forward the sender's name, and if you haven't "signed" your message, others won't know who is commenting. Because some members pay a high rate to receive email, please KEEP YOUR MESSAGES AS BRIEF AS POSSIBLE. This means not automatically copying the original message into your reply. Simply begin you message by saying something like "In response to X’s question regarding literature about . . ."
